Quick Start

This quick start guide will help you install, activate, and start building with Blocklayouts in just a few minutes.

1. Installation & Activation

  1. Download the Blocklayouts plugin (latest version).
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the .zip file, then click Install Now.
  4. Once installed, click Activate.

2. Insert Your First Pattern

  1. Open a page or post in the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg).
  2. Click the Blocklayouts icon.
  3. Choose a pattern from the Blocklayouts library.
  4. Insert it into your page.

3. Customize Text & Styles

  • Select any text and start typing to replace placeholders.
  • Use the sidebar controls (block settings) to adjust colors, typography, spacing, and more.
  • Use Block Extensions for extra functionality.

4. Change Placeholder Images

This step can be a little tricky depending on the pattern. In most patterns, click directly on the image block → replace with your own image.

Some patterns use images that are positioned absolutely (e.g., behind text or layered under content). In these cases, you might not be able to click the image directly in the editor.

👉 Here’s what to do:

  1. Open the List View (top-left toolbar, three stacked lines).
  2. Locate the Image block in the hierarchy.
  3. Select the Image block from the list.
  4. Replace it with your own image in the block toolbar or sidebar.

5. Save & Publish

  1. Click Update/Publish.
  2. View your page on the front end—your custom Blocklayouts pattern is live!
